Keeping You Informed
At our setting, we use an App system called First Steps, which parents can access via a smartphone. This contains all the information you’ll want to know about your child – such as how much they ate and drank, how many naps they had – even how many times they had their nappy changed, and what activities they have taken part in throughout the day. No detail is too small or insignificant.
Practitioners at the setting will keep you informed of your child’s development through regular parents' evenings, nursery events, and our open-door policy. Regular parents’ evenings are held throughout the year, giving you the opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have about your child, and allowing us to update you on their progress in greater detail.
Settling In
Attending a new nursery – or even a nursery for the first time – can be an emotional wrench for both you and your child. Because we appreciate how upsetting this time can be, we offer “settling in” periods, when you and your child can come and spend time with us and adjust to the new surroundings.
During this time we will ask you about your child’s routine, any likes and dislikes, and their dietary requirements. We’ll also gather information on sleep patterns, play, and general behaviour. If you’re potty training your child, we will work alongside you to support your child through this time.
All these questions help us to follow your home routine closely, making their time with us as enjoyable for them and worry-free for you as possible.

You Are Part Of The Family Too
My First Friends is independently owned and run, we feel it’s important for you to feel as much a part of the nursery as your child does. We hold regular “get-togethers” that provide the perfect opportunity for you to meet other parents; this also gives us the opportunity to update you on any initiatives and progress within the nursery.
We also actively encourage any feedback and suggestions you may have.There is a lending library in Preschool where children can choose a book to take home and share with their family. This also supports children in the preparation for school.
Most importantly, you are encouraged to visit at any time during the day, to take part in nursery activities or even eat lunch with your child. If it’s simply a cup of coffee and a chat you need, we can offer that too.
Uniform For Sale
We have polo shirts and jumpers you can purchase for your children if you wish.
These are not compulsory but they do help to give your child a sense of belonging while at the same time protecting your child's own clothes.
We have them in sizes 2-3, 3-4, and 5-6.

Our Dedicated Staff
The staff at My First Friends are highly qualified and motivated and undergo rigorous selection and recruitment. Practitioners are actively encouraged to attend regular training sessions which enables us to provide the best learning environment for your child.
We believe staff retention is a vitally important part of the care we offer your child, and that continuity and routine is paramount in their formative years.
Training is high on our agenda here at My First Friends and we are continually striving to ensure all staff members are provided with current up-to-date courses and necessary information to carry out their roles to the high standard we expect.
